To sign up for the Nevada City Classes, please call the Colfax Center at 346-8340. Classes are open to CORE students as well as students in the community.
Computer Math Lab 4th-8th– Middle School
Students will engage in computer-based math activities using programs such as Accelerated Math and BrainPop to develop basic math and thinking skills.

K-3 Spanish Games and Activities
A Spanish immersion fun and games class where students will practice listening, responding to, speaking, writing and reading the Spanish language. Total Physical Response, artistic activities, realia, familiar games, and more too will be used to promote natural cognitive language development.

K-3 Science
Students will explore and discover new science concepts and processes. Each lesson will apply new concepts in a fun and meaningful way through hands-on experiences in a small group setting.

K-3 Movement
K-3 students will learn basic brain gym (helps you learn to learn, think, and be calm) play games & more to music.

High School English 9th-12th
Students will meet for one class period each week to earn 5 credits of English class requirement each semester. Teacher will assign homework each class period. Grade level textbooks and supplementary materials will be used. Assignments will be graded by the teacher. This class helps prepare students for CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) and strengthens grammar, composition, and critical thinking skills. Concepts covered include parts of speech, sentence structure, sentence diagramming, spelling, literary interpretation, and the writing of research papers.

Want to survive and thrive as a teen and beyond? This class provides a step-by-step guide to help teens improve self image, build friendships, resist peer pressure, achieve their goals, get along with their parents and much more.

Career Exploration-High School and Beyond
In this course, high school students will zero in on their favorite skills and apply that knowledge to get the most out of school, set goals, and find their dream jobs. The course will be based on the book What Color is your Parachute? For Teens. In addition to the text, students will search websites on careers, colleges, interests, and more. Community members will be invited to speak about their chosen careers as well as the incorporation movies and other media. The focus of the course will be for the students to begin defining themselves and start planning for their future.
